When dealing with irritated skin, there are some products you can avoid so it does not get worse. For instance, using a creamy cleanser instead of a scrub can help maintain the oils in your skin, preventing irritation. Moreover, drinking tons of water can also contribute to the external outcome of your skin. If you feel your skin experiences irritation, incorporate more water into your diet.

If these basic improvements in your routine don’t seem to do the trick, don’t you worry. Nexon Botanics has 4 DIY recipes using essential oils that you can use to soothe your irritated skin.

4 DIY Recipes for Irritated Skin

1. Ice of Essential Oils

When your skin is experiencing severe irritation and redness, Nexon Botanics has a DIY recipe that can soothe your skin. Ice is known to help reduce puffiness and also provide a cooling sensation and relief to the skin. Combining essential oils with ice could be the power duo that is no match for irritated skin.

For this recipe, you will need:

In a large bowl, add 3 cups of water along with the essential oils. Give the mixture a quick stir and transfer it into an ice cube mold. Freeze the mixture for an hour or overnight. Once frozen, you can take the ice cubes out and rub them gently onto the face.

2. Rosemary Milk Mask with Honey

Milk works beautifully to moisturize and soothe the skin. Milk baths are an ancient practice to soothe and soften the skin. Today, we’re bringing it into your skincare routine in the form of this milk mask.

For this recipe, you will need:

rosemary milk with honey

Add 2 cups of milk into a large bowl. Whisk a teaspoon of honey into the milk and then add 3 drops of rosemary essential oil into the mix. Apply the mixture onto your face for 30-40 minutes overnight. Then rinse with cold water.

3. Tea Tree Enzyme-Exfoliant

Regular exfoliants can be quite harsh, especially if your skin is experiencing irritation. An alternative to a regular scrub or exfoliant would be an enzyme-based exfoliant. The papaya fruit is a rich source of enzymes that have emollient properties for softer skin.

For this recipe, you will need:

In a large bowl, add crushed papaya. Crack one egg into the fruit and whisk together. Then, add the coconut oil. Whisk again until smooth. Add 4 drops of tea tree essential oil at the end and stir gently. Apply the mixture onto your face with a soft brush. Leave it on for 30-40 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
